Type 74 tanks of the 10th Tank Battalion rush the “battlefield” with guns blazing for a final time, at the Imazu Garrison of the JGSDF, Shiga Prefecture, Japan. From the Imazu Garrison’s 71st Anniversary Event, the base’s remaining unit with the future retiring Type 74 main battle tanks, 10th Tank Battalion, is making the best of it’s final moments as a tank unit. This year is a first, in which the tank battalion doesn’t serve alongside a former fellow unit, the 3rd Tank Battalion, with their Type 74 tanks. 3rd Tank Battalion was also stationed at Imazu Garrison. Instead, the new 3rd Reconnaissance Combat Battalion is participating with their Type 16 Maneuver Combat Vehicles for the first time. However, a lot of tank enthusiasts in Japan are paying little attention to the new unit, as they focus more on the tank battalion before the unit bids us a farewell.
