Taking the form of an interactive multi-sensory art & technology installation, “Do Machines Dream of Immigration?” gives visitors an opportunity to contextually, metaphorically, and physically engage with the alienating experience of immigration. Visitors are invited to participate in a dialogue with the pinnacle of human creation - a powerful machine caught in a migrating state of being, at the heart of which lies an artificial intelligence that holds the collective knowledge of humanity. In this transcendental dialogue, a visitor migrates from their current reality to the machine’s virtual digitized dreamscape, where they can experience visualizations, soundscapes, and stories that are surreal reflections of its thoughts and computations on the discourse of the overarching the subject of immigration. Visitors interacting with the installation are called to reflect on their own preconceptions and values as they immigrate into another world through the dreams of an artificial mind. Here our focus on immigration acts as a point of confluence for discussing the values held by humanity. The audio in this clip is generated during the installation in real-time.
