Jerry Yarnell teaches how to paint realistic looking animals step-by-step in acrylics without the need to paint every individual hair. Jerry shows you how to sketch animals accurately, block in an underpainting, and build fur with layered dry brushing for depth. In this full length tutorial you’ll see Jerry work through an elk study (blocking in, fur direction, shadow structure, subtle highlights) and then move into a rabbit study to reinforce the same core fur method on a different animal form. He also shares sketching guidance using negative space, plus a simple habit that helps brush control: always “test” the loaded brush before committing to the canvas.
