Mele Fong & Richard Tom – The Hawaiian Serenaders – performed a one-hour hula show with Mele’s Ahahui Kaahumanu sisters at Maui County’s Agriculture Festival on May 31, 2025, at the War Memorial complex. The theme of the show was the uniqueness of Hawaii through song and hula. Fifteen Hawaiian and hapa haole songs were performed by the husband-and-wife duo on ukulele and u-bass. The Ahahui Kaahumanu is a royal organization of Native Hawaiian women honoring the legacy of Queen Kaahumanu, a powerful and influential leader who shaped the course of Hawaiian history. Nine members danced hula (Beverly, Kathy, Napua O, Napua R, Kekoa, Kehua, Leilani, and Stacey) including the chapter president. Mele has been a member since September 2004.
