Have you been having a hard time opening tough closed guards? Do you always seem to lose your balance or just drown in an eternity of sweat and tears as your opponent stalls their way to victory? Have no fear because the solution to opening a closed guard is here! This variation of the first guard open you learned in Jiu-Jitsu is going to have you Khabib “smesh” mode in no time! First, we start out with a traditional low open but instead of driving our opponent’s legs into our own with a violent yet ineffective caveman move, we are going to turn our legs BOTH 45 degrees to the side. Then it’s time to clap them cheeks!!! Stick your knee down the center of that buttcrack, push down their hips and pop them open like a fresh can o’ tuna. Once you’ve successfully assaulted your new friend with your knee, you are then going to turn your back sideways and concentrate on filling the gap between their legs as much as possible. (Insert inappropriate comment here). Once you’ve stuffed that turkey like it’s Thanksgiving, it’s time to turn the other cheek (and knee) and open up heaven’s gates for an easy pass to side control. Remember team, no doesn’t mean no in Jiu-Jitsu… it just means don’t make eye contact. Until next time!
