Two Salvadoran Towns are Living in the Future: Bitcoin Beach and Berlín

Bitcoin is more than just an investment. It's also MONEY, used every single day by people in the real world. That's especially true for two towns in El Salvador. Started in 2019, Bitcoin Beach made global headlines when most of the merchants in the surfing town of El Zonte started accepting Bitcoin. Since then, it has inspired almost 100 similar "circular economies" around the world. Started in 2023, Bitcoin Berlín became the first Salvadoran town to follow in El Zonte's footsteps. Now almost 200 merchants in this agricultural mountain town accept Bitcoin. Local students even learn how to run Bitcoin and Lightning nodes, surpassing the knowledge of most Bitcoiners in "first world" countries. Both projects have two cofounders, but all four of them had never been on a panel together at the same time... until now.
