The Last Days of Steam on the British Rail network Filmed in 1966/7. An Historic 8mm Film! With my 8mm cine camera I toured around the Country from the South West, throughout Wales and The North West and East of England. Capturing the last few months of steam traction, before Diesel Electric took over. I was 18 at the time and enjoyed making films which featured many of my friends. But this film was a personal project. The original narration had to be removed and there was copyright background music too which was not needed! I told Bob Hammond (my life long buddy) That I was going to get it scanned and he was looking forward to seeing it again, years later. But Bob, sadly passed away a few months ago. So this film is dedicated to him. RIP Bob! Many thanks to Chris Squires at https://[email protected] for the high quality scan! Much, but sadly not all of the audio is authentic. Due to deterioration over the last 58 years! However, I have an extensive collection of footage from my Steam Heritage Railway films which enabled me to rescue and match audio with some dubbing.
