This is my first LIVE improvisation in a new vocal style. It combines imitated sounds of nature with elements of ancient singing styles (such as overtone singing and throat singing) as well as some other extended vocal techniques (e.g. vocal multiphonics, undertones etc). I use a Boss RC-505 looping station for live looping. There are no FX (except reverb and some basic EQing) used in the work, therefore every sound that you hear is actually produced by my voice. I use Shure BETA-52A mic for bass sounds as the vocal dynamic microphones don't have the proper low frequency response (the lowest note is C#1). I hope you enjoy the music. Make sure to keep up with my future performances and compositions by subscribing to the channel http://www.youtube.com/user/vscompose... and/or by following me on my Facebook page / vahramsarkissian My personal website: http://www.vahramsarkissian.com/ Thank you. (Vahram Sarkissian is a composer and experimental vocalist from Montreal, Canada, who unites world's diverse music traditions through his unaltered vocal-only performances. He pushes the boundaries of vocal music by developing and producing sounds that are beyond the conventional perception of the human voice. Through the huge variety of sound production methods and his 7 octave vocal range he alters the notion of singing itself thus often creating a magical, even 'extraterrestrial' soundscape. One of the distinct characteristics of Sarkissian's music is his preference for authentic vocal sound production over digital sound effects and artificial sound modifications thus making his music as 'acoustic' as possible.)
