Comment, like, share this story. It was time to go back to school as it was the end of Summer. Just before Enilda was set to head off to college for the first time, she thought it was going to be great, was so excited and felt she was totally ready to be away from home, living in a dorm with other kids - and no parents - and just having fun! She'd go to registration to register for her classes. All was good and she was getting ready for her first year in college and to leave for school. Her back to school story is about attending a new school, college - a university for the fist time in her life. Finally the big day came, college move in day. Her Dad packed their car up with all of her stuff and they all set off toward school - college - only about an hour away. She was ready to get on her college campus and see the dorms. She left home and was going to college. But suddenly, just minutes after leaving, she started feeling a little nervous - butterflies in her stomach - and she realized, she had no idea what to expect. She got more nervous, texting all her friends goodbye like she was going away forever. Just an hour away from her house, but it suddenly felt like the biggest deal ever. Enilda was anxious, filled with anxiety. As if she wasn't freaking out badly enough already, when they finally pulled into the parking lot they saw the longest line they had ever seen. So, before they could even see her room, or meet her roommate, or move her stuff, they had to register - a three-hour wait! Finally they got the front desk, registered, and got a room key. When they got to the room they met her roommate - which was a relief because she was really nice. Then it was time for Freshman orientation in her university - they left all of her stuff in a big pile and headed for the lobby. They had to do all of that embarrassing first day stuff, introducing themselves and playing weird memory games. And then, suddenly, that was it - they told the parents that they could all head home and that the new students were here to stay! They all went back to Enilda's dorm room to say their goodbyes, and she's thinking she is going to be so happy to finally be free and living on her own, but then, without even thinking about it, she burst out crying, and so did her mom. They just all stood there, hugging and crying for almost fifteen minutes. Even when they were finally leaving, with the elevator doors closing, Enilda and her mom were standing and crying to each other.The college campus seems so big and so cold at that moment. It was a little embarrassing but it was genuine. Sad and a little scared, Enilda walked back to her dorm room but her roommate wasn't there, she already knew people, had friends and was out and about with them. Enilda sat by herself, a little shaky, scared and sad... until the RA came by and reminded everyone that it was Friday and so they could go home for the weekend or hang out on campus, or, whatever they wanted. Enilda decided to go home for the weekend. But, going home made it ten times harder to come back on Sunday night. Everyone else had been hanging out and getting to know each other, but Enilda felt like she had to start all over again. She felt more homesick than ever, and she had only just gotten back. In her first college class, Monday morning, she met Chelsea and they totally hit it off. Immediate best friends, college friends. They did everything together, and by the time the second weekend rolled around, she didn't want to go home. She was having too much fun. After that, she rarely went home. She made great friends from college, and even though that first week was really hard, once she got past that, she started having the time she had always imagined - the time of her life!
