I have been wanting this time switch for many years now, and now I have one! YAY! This time switch, unlike the Q346, is powered by a synchronous motor, hence the 's' in the model name. _________________________________________ Have a look at a Q346 on this link:    • Time Switch : Sangamo Weston Q346 Rate Cha...   ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Now that I have one of these, after it has been cleaned up and restored, I will pair it up with my Sangamo Weston S309.2 dual-tariff kWh meter. This meter, like the time switch, is a traditional mechanical meter with a load-wheel. The characteristics of the S309.2 are similar to that of a S200.31 meter. The characteristics for the time switch are 80A switching capacity with rate changer capability. ( similar to a Horstmann Vmk 7 SRS then. ) Because these time switches are mechanical, and have no electronics in them, back up power is provided by a wind-up spring mechanism, or 'spring-reserve'. I have yet to determine the run-time of the spring reserve. The size of the spring box is comparable to that of what would be found in Horstmann's Vmk range of timeswitches. To wind the spring reserve manually, this clock, similar to a Horstmann Vmk 7SRS has a small square winding shank, but it is not located in the centre of the clock-face on this time switch. To access the spring reserve winding shank, the clock's face must first be removed to reveal the small square winding shank. I attempted to wind the spring reserve, but........My clock key is too big! Oh no! Admittedly, the clock key is for a Horstmann, ( 4mm square ) and the shank on the Sangamo is obviously smaller, so I may have to buy one of those "one-key-fits-all" types that have a central disc, and different sized keys fixed around its circumference ( normally seven different sizes ) and see if one of those sizes fits the shank on this Sangamo time switch. The catch is, there's two types of key: There's "even-sized", and then "odd-sized"......Yep, I guess I am going to have to buy both of them! Damn! Because of this small problem with winding the spring reserve, I am going to have to make 'progress-update' videos, and show you all the multi-size keys that I am going to purchase, in order to try and wind-up the spring reserve on this time switch. The clock does still tick a little bit, and the synchro motor is running OK. :-) Similar in operation to Horstmann's Vmk range, this time switch does stop it's escapement when powered up, and ( obviously ) releases it when power is lost. I do know that there are timeswitches out there that have the synchro motor / spring reserve combination, and their escapements run continuously, even when powered up. I do believe that my little Horstmann Ymk 2 is one such timeswitch. I have yet to do a video on my little Ymk 2, but to give you an idea of how small it is, it is similar in size to a Kmk 2. :-) So! There it is, peoples! I finally have a synchro-motor powered Sangamo timeswitch to pair-up with my S309.2 meter. YAY!
