I headed up to Washington Heights at 181st st and Broadway in uptown Manhattan, New York, with the plan to get a Dominican Barbershop Experience... I walked around, and decided to approach the guys in Team Star. I saw the menu -- a shave is $8 or a shape-up with shave is $12. I asked to confirm if they use the straight razor, and he said yes. My barber's name is Flow Navaja. I asked for a shave, but I ended up getting a shape-up with that. The shape-up included going around my entire hairline and just fixing it up. It was all well worth it. He did a fantastic job. I may go back to him and get a Brooklyn style fade next time. Flow Navaja, originally from Santiago, said he has been working as a barber for 14 years, with 5 years of that here in New York, and the rest in Dominican Republic. Cost: $12 for the shape-up. I gave a $5 tip.
