I’m not sure what this wood is but it is one of the hardest woods to hand split I have ever came across. Sycamore is probably the only thing worse I can think of in my own experience. The tree had no leaves upon it and had been dead for awhile. I couldn’t identify it. It was nearly 4 feet wide at the bottom from what I could tell. Can anyone tell me what kind of wood this is? If you enjoy, please like and subscribe. Thanks for watching, be safe and God bless! Edit: Slippery elm, also known as red elm. It has interlocking grain which makes it resistant to splitting. I read that it was also used to make wagon wheel hubs in the older days. And read from more than one person that it is the worst thing they have ever split. Here is a man that named his channel “splitting elm”. My hats off to him for dealing with this stuff. Thanks to everyone that commented and to the people who said it was “elm” (Mike Edwards, Joey Rector). I definitely wanted to learn what this stuff was and glad that I know now. Extremely interesting and resistant wood! • Splitting Elm #firewood #handsplitting #bluegrassoutdoors #firewoodbusiness
