What happens when we increase the zoom to maximum ?.... we lose light and we get shallow depth of field . With the "Optical magnifier" we double the magnification with simple barrel turn , without inducing the "aperture" effect of the "zoom system" of the microscope , hence we preserve the SAME amount of LIGHT and same DoF .
