The death of 18-year-old Darshan Solanki has opened a can of worms over alleged caste-based discrimination on the campus of IIT Bombay. According to a survey conducted by the elite institute's SC/ST Cell in February 2022, one in three students was asked his/her rank by fellow students in a bid to know their caste identity.
