How can we (re)connect with nature? In an effort to answer this question Koen and Gina moved their lives outside for a year. The experience inspired them to rethink education and bring together theory and practice for learning in a changing world. It's time for teaching to get its hands dirty. Koen Arts is a lecturer in the Forest and Nature Conservation Policy Group at Wageningen University, the Netherlands, an outdoor instructor, and the author of nature books for a broad audience that reflect on the human-nature connection. Together, Koen and Gina have written on the importance of rewilding humans to address the root of global environmental crises. They continue to experiment with balancing theory and practice and advocate using our heads, hearts, and hands to learn with the natural world. Gina Maffey is the chair of Wildeor, a charity that aims to 'bring nature back to life' based in the Netherlands. She works across disciplines to consider inclusivity and representation in nature engagement. Together, Koen and Gina have written on the importance of rewilding humans to address the root of global environmental crises. They continue to experiment with balancing theory and practice and advocate using our heads, hearts and hands to learn with the natural world.
