The Bible teaches that death is not the end, but a transition. 1. The Body and the Soul Separate According to Scripture, humans are made of body and soul. The body returns to the earth. The soul (or spirit) continues to exist. “The dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.” (Ecclesiastes 12:7) Death is often described in the Bible as sleep, because it is temporary, not final. 2. After Death, You Are With God or Away From Him The Bible teaches that after death, people are conscious and aware. For those who trust God: They are at peace They are with the Lord “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” (2 Corinthians 5:8) Jesus said to a man dying beside Him: “Today you will be with Me in paradise.” (Luke 23:43) This shows that life continues immediately after death. 3. There Will Be a Resurrection The Bible also teaches that one day, God will raise the dead. Souls will be reunited with new, restored bodies There will be no pain, death, or suffering “The dead will be raised imperishable.” (1 Corinthians 15:52) This is part of God’s final plan to restore everything. 4. God Will Judge With Justice and Mercy The Bible says everyone will face God’s judgment—but this is not meant to terrify. “It is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment.” (Hebrews 9:27) God judges fairly, truthfully, and with mercy. Those who trust Him are not condemned. “There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 8:1) 5. The Final Hope For believers, the Bible describes eternity as: No more tears No more pain No more death “He will wipe every tear from their eyes.” (Revelation 21:4)
