On the southern peninsula of Wakayama Prefecture is the famous Kumano Kodo Pilgrimage route. Along the Nakahechi trail (the most popular route among visitors) is the Kumano Sanzan, or 3 famous religious shrines - Hongu Taisha, Hayatama Taisha, and Nachi Taisha. In this video, I visit all three shrines on the Kumano Kodo trail. I went during spring so the shrines were made more beautiful but the cherry blossoms. If there's only one thing you have time to do in Wakayama, be sure to check out the Kumano Sanzen! It can easily be done in one day by car or by bus. I'd also recommend staying overnight to enjoy the (very hot) natural onsens in the area. I stayed in a small ryokan in Yunomine Onsen Town but for those that are not on a tight budget than I would recommend spending the extra money to stay right along the beautiful Wakayama coast. Though, it a little pricey, the best place to stay along the coast is Hotel Urashima, which boasts the famous Katsuura Onsen (aka special onsen inside Bokido Cave). _______________________________________________________________________ Hi, I’m Leah!
