It is best to start your score with an upbeat in the Document Set-up. However it is possible to insert the upbeat during or after you have finished your score, but there could be a couple of complications, for example you would have to re-number your first bar etc. Remember that your upbeat bar plus your last bar should equal the number of beats in the time signature. Therefore you have to change the number of beats in the last bar to correspond with the upbeat. If you have a short piece, like this one for example, you don't have to insert the "start repeat" barline in the beginning, as the piece is obviously repeated from the beginning. If however your piece has a section that needs repeating you would have to insert the "start repeat" barline to indicate from where the music should be repeated.
