The temple at Manadargiri foothills is a nicely constructed Gurumandir with a "pinchi" look - peacock feather fan - externally. There is a 5 foot Guruji idol in this mandir. There are lots of paintings hanged around the inner circular walls of the gurumandir depicting the life of the saint. Also, there is an idol of Chandranath Thirthankara in the open air in the area adjoining the gurumandir. It looks similar to Gomateshwara Idols in various parts of Karnataka. There is a hill called "Mandaragiri" nearby which you need to trek approximately 435 steps to enjoy the scenic beauty of the Tumkur district from there. There is a Jain temple (under Construction) on top of the hill. You can also see a pond behind it. This is an ideal place for a weekend short trip. You can either make it in the mornings or late afternoons and enjoy the place for its serenity. You can probably club your visit to Devarayanadurga or Shivagange Hills with the visit to this place. Route: Travel from Bangalore to Tumkur on the highway. Near Hirehalli Industrial Area (after 10 km from Dabbaspet and 7 km before Kyatsandara) on the highway, you will find an arch right opposite the Industrial Area entrance. Travel in the route there, cross a railway crossing and you will reach this place. Overall distance from Bangalore not more than 65kms. Facilities: There are no facilities for eateries or anything here. You need to either carry it or have your stuff on the highway hotels and reach the place. The ideal time to spend: Around 3 hours, if you plan to trek the hill and see the pond there.
