Recorded live for SICPP's Iditarod (June 2021) While my interpretation of this work has since grown and I can't help but cringe at how I tackled it mere months ago, I do remember being quite proud of how far I and this piece have come along. This was premiered at the end of an 8-ish day intensive and stood as a testament of my work ethic, enthusiasm, and musicianship. The Summer Institute for Contemporary Performance Practice (SICPP) not only gave me the platform for this performance but the tools, confidence, and purpose. It gave me the beginnings of a deeper dive into an artistic practice I hold dear. While I hope to update this recording (and add to it the many other works by Aperghis I've performed and practiced in the last half-year) I decided to upload this today for posterity and as a thank you to SICPP. SICPP's future is uncertain. Its host - New England Conservatory - decided to withdraw support from the program; a massive blow to the community of living composers, experimental musicians, and those who want to challenge their classical training. I will also add that I've made and maintained some very special friendships courtesy of the program and it pains me to think fellow weirdos won't be extended the same opportunities.
