Without removing the Intelligent Key from your pocket or purse, you can lock or unlock your doors, open the trunk and start the engine. The driver’s and front passenger’s doors are equipped with a one touch sensor that allows for easy unlocking of the vehicle. To unlock the driver’s or front passenger’s door, have the Intelligent Key with you then pull the door handle to open the door. The other doors will remain locked. To unlock the other doors, press the request switch on either the driver’s or front passenger’s door within one minute of using the one touch sensor. The one touch sensor does not operate for two seconds after the vehicle has been locked. If this occurs, release the handle and then hold it again to unlock the door. To lock your vehicle, push any door handle’s request switch once, after all doors have been closed. To enable or disable the one touch sensor function: ● Press the MENU button on the control panel, ● Touch SETTINGS, ● Touch VEHICLE, then ● Touch the TOUCH SENSITIVE DOOR SENSOR key. The one touch sensor function is active when the indicator light on the screen is illuminated. When this function is not active, the driver’s door must be unlocked by pressing the door handle request switch while carrying the Intelligent Key with you. Press the door handle request switch again within one minute to unlock all doors and the trunk. The Intelligent Key has lockout protection in the event you accidentally lock your key inside the vehicle. If you exit with the Intelligent Key inside the vehicle and then lock and close the door, a warning chime will sound and the door will unlock automatically. These lock and unlock functions are operational when the Intelligent Key is within about 2 1/2 feet of a request switch. To activate the panic alarm, press this button for more than one second. The panic alarm will sound and the headlights will stay on for a period of time. The Intelligent Key can also be used to operate door locks, windows and the moonroof, if so equipped, from outside the vehicle, at a distance of up to 33 feet. To lock doors, press the LOCK button. Your hazard warning lights will flash twice, your horn will beep once, and you’ll know that all doors are locked. To unlock the doors, press the UNLOCK button. The hazard warning lights will flash once and the driver’s door and fuel-filler door will unlock. Press again within one minute to unlock all doors and the trunk. All doors will automatically relock within one minute unless you push the ignition switch or open any door. Hold the UNLOCK button for more than 3 seconds after the doors are unlocked to lower the automatic windows and open the moonroof, if so equipped. In a rare instance when your Intelligent Key battery is discharged, you can still use the Mechanical Key to lock or unlock the vehicle. You’ll find the Mechanical Key concealed on the back of the Intelligent Key. To remove it, release the lock knob on the back of the Intelligent Key and slide the Mechanical Key out. Then insert the Mechanical Key into the key cylinder on the driver’s door and turn to lock or unlock the vehicle. When you leave a key with a valet, your Intelligent Key can help you keep your belongings safe in your vehicle. Use the Mechanical Key to lock the glove box. You can then give the Intelligent Key to the valet and take the Mechanical Key with you. As many as four keys can be used with one vehicle, provided the Intelligent Keys are registered with an INFINITI retailer prior to use with the Intelligent Key system. The Intelligent Key contains sensitive electrical components.
