Restoring a Lesney Matchbox No. 52B B.R.M., in the Matchbox range from 1965 until 1969. July 2019 I recorded some of this footage. And it was finalised in October 2020. 15 months waiting on a single decal of the three to be found on the car! But that is besides the point. This is the second of two Formula 1 cars in the Matchbox regular wheels range, with the 19D Lotus being the other. That was also released in 1965, and while that lived a longer life in the Superfast range, the BRM was discontinued in 1969. The Lotus, for me, is the better model. It came in an accurate colour, with the additional yellow pinstripe from the decal. The BRM had generic black number five on a white circular decal, times three. Most importantly though, BRM to my knowledge never raced in a French blue as seen on this casting. BRM raced most commonly in British Racing Green, often with an orange nosecone highlight. It wasn't until the 70s at the team deviated from this, with the swell of money behind tobacco sponsorship that frequently dictated the cars livery.
