Hey Curlies! In this video I decided to talk about my experience getting a helix piercing and I give advice regarding how to take care of a healing ear piercing whilst caring for my natural hair! I give both general advice as well as advice to those who may have natural hair specifically. I got my piercing in July 2016 - and I LOVE it! Initially it was done with a stud but after a month and a half it was replaced with a ring - I had a few complications with healing the piercing which I explain in the video. In short my advice before you get your piercing is: 1. Think about how you sleep! 2. It may take up to a year to heal. 3. Think about where exactly you want your piercing to be 4. Think about how you style your hair and your personal style. Also, think twice if you are prone to keloids! After your piercing you need to: 1. Keep it clean! (I talk about how to do this with sea salt) 2. Don't cover it, as much as you can. 3. You may get a piercing bump - treat this with a sea salt paste, Vitamin E oil or Tea Tree Oil 4. Avoid touching it as much as possible! If you have natural hair: 1. Be careful when doing updos eg puffs. 2. Keep the area dry as much as you can, even when deep conditioning. 3. Try to keep gel and other products away from it 4. Be careful when detangling 5. If you are prone to keloids - think twice!
