BJP leader and former chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, after initial reluctance, took oath as deputy chief minister. Shortly after taking oath at the Raj Bhavan, Shinde and Fadnavis held their first cabinet meeting and decided to call a special session of the state Assembly on July 2 and 3. In the Assembly, the newly formed government will face the trust vote and also elect the new Speaker of the House.
