Anti CAA NRC protests took place in the city of Frankfurt on Saturday 28th December. Protesters lead by Frankfurt for India group held a rally from the Frankfurt City Center and marched towards the Consulate General of India via Old Opera House (Historic building). The protesters engaged with the local public and informed them about the recent developments in India. The motto of the protest was “Save Secular India. No to citizenship based on religion”. The protesters raised concerns about linking citizenship to religion. They condemned the way the central government is handling the protests with police brutality and expressed solidarity with the people protesting across India including students of Jamia and AMU. They called upon the Indian government to engage with the protesters in a peaceful manner and address their concern accordingly. They urged the government to initiate tough action against police brutality after an impartial enquiry. They recited the Preamble of the Indian constitution, raised slogans of Azadi, read out poems like ‘Hum khagaz nehi dikhayenge’. People from the across Germany travelled to Frankfurt to participate in this protest. Alumni of Jamia, AMU were also present at the protest. Frankfurt city authorities co-operated with the protesters and allowed the protests to take place peacefully.
