Plant Physiology | One Shot Video Lateral Transport: Imagine a network of tiny roads within a plant, like pathways in a city. Lateral transport refers to the movement of water, nutrients, and other substances across these pathways, from cell to cell. This transport happens mainly through the symplast (where substances move through plasmodesmata, channels between plant cells) and apoplast (where substances move through cell walls and intercellular spaces). Ascent of Sap: This is like a plant's drinking straw, but on a massive scale! It's how water travels up from the roots to the leaves. The process is driven by transpiration, where water evaporates from the leaves, creating a pull or suction force (like sipping through a straw). This pull helps to draw water upwards through the xylem vessels, which act like the plant's plumbing system. Transpiration: Picture a plant sweating to keep cool, just like we do. Transpiration is the loss of water vapor from the plant's aerial parts, especially from the leaves. It serves several purposes: cooling the plant, maintaining turgor pressure (like plant hydration), and facilitating nutrient uptake. This process is regulated by factors like temperature, humidity, wind, and light intensity. Translocation: Think of a plant's highway system for delivering nutrients and sugars. Translocation is the movement of these substances (like sugars produced in photosynthesis) through the phloem tissue, from where they're made (usually leaves) to where they're needed (roots, fruits, other growing parts). This process relies on specialized cells called sieve tubes and companion cells, which actively transport these substances across the plant. These processes collectively ensure that plants can absorb nutrients, maintain hydration, and distribute energy efficiently throughout their structures, much like how our bodies distribute nutrients and water through our bloodstream and sweat to regulate temperature. #PlantPhysiology #Botany #PlantScience #LateralTransport #AscentOfSap #Transpiration #Translocation #PlantNutrition #MCAT2024 #MDCAT2024News #MDCAT2024Preperation #MDCAT2024Syllabus #drasimlectures #LetsCrackMDCAT #LetsCrackIntermediateBiology #LetsCrackNeet #MedicalLectures #Biology #HumanBiology #HumanBiologyinUrdu #HumanBiologyinHindi #powerofknowledge #PowerOfKnowledgeAcademy #MDCATBiology #NEETBiology #KnowledgeIsPower #PlantResearch #BiologyEducation Instagram ► / drasimlectu. .
