The BC Cancer Agency’s Genome Sciences Centre's mandate is to advance knowledge about cancer and translate that knowledge to improve human health through prevention, diagnosis and therapy development, and to realize the social and economic benefits fo of genomics and bioinformatics research through collaboration, translation, development and application. This film will concentrate on two elements of the Centres work - POG program – a clinical research initiative that embeds genomic sequencing into real-time treatment planning for BC patients with cancer. The goal is to to transform cancer medicine through comprehensive genomic profiling applied to cancer patient populations. Hereditary Cancer Program – using genomic approaches to assess and inform patients and their families about potential cancer risks, enabling access to counselling and other resources. http://bcgsc.ca/
