Waxwork Vs. Night at the Museum - Who wins in a fight? Check all the episodes here - • Hit Movies from the 70s, 80s and 90s. Waxwork (1988) is a horror-comedy directed by Anthony Hickox, following a group of college friends who unknowingly step into a deadly trap. Mark Loftmore (Zach Galligan), Sarah Brightman (Deborah Foreman), China Webster (Michelle Johnson), and Tony (Dana Ashbrook) accept an invitation to a midnight tour of a mysterious wax museum owned by the enigmatic David Lincoln (David Warner). Inside, they discover eerily lifelike displays of famous horror monsters. However, when Tony and China cross the velvet ropes of different exhibits, they are magically transported into terrifying alternate realities—a werewolf-infested forest and a vampire’s castle—where they become victims. As their friends vanish, Mark and Sarah begin to suspect something sinister about the museum and seek help from Sir Wilfred (Patrick Macnee), an old ally of Mark’s late grandfather. Sir Wilfred reveals that Lincoln is a warlock using the museum to perform a dark ritual—if he sacrifices eighteen people within the exhibits, the monsters will come to life permanently. Determined to stop him, Mark and Sarah return to the museum, where Sarah falls under the spell of the sadistic Marquis de Sade (J. Kenneth Campbell). Meanwhile, Mark joins Sir Wilfred’s allies in a battle against Lincoln and the reanimated wax figures, including zombies, mummies, and vampires. As chaos erupts, Mark manages to set the museum on fire, destroying Lincoln and his creations. Sarah is freed from the Marquis’ influence, and the two escape the burning museum. However, in the final moments, a severed wax hand twitches in the debris, hinting that the nightmare may not be over. Waxwork (1988) was written and directed by Anthony Hickox in his directorial debut. The film was produced on a modest budget and shot primarily in Los Angeles, with the wax museum set being a key location constructed to house the elaborate horror exhibits. The production aimed to pay homage to classic horror films and literature, incorporating well-known monsters such as werewolves, vampires, and mummies. The cast featured Zach Galligan, best known for Gremlins (1984), as the lead, alongside Deborah Foreman, Michelle Johnson, and Dana Ashbrook. Special effects and creature designs played a crucial role in the film, with a mix of practical effects, prosthetics, and animatronics used to bring the wax figures and monsters to life. Despite its limited theatrical release, Waxwork gained a cult following, praised for its creative premise, blend of horror and comedy, and practical effects. Its popularity later led to a sequel, Waxwork II: Lost in Time (1992). @BacktotheFeatureWithDwen Waxwork 1988 Movie Review.
