This is one of the best places to camp in Korea, and it’s free! Just 40 minutes by ferry from Tongyeong Ferry Terminal on the south coast, this is one of the most popular islands to visit in the Hallyeohaesang National Park. It’s got a beautiful beach, awesome hiking trails, a shaded pine forest and a laidback, sleepy island vibe. Go for a wander through the narrow alleys of the village and stumble upon garlic, sesame, chilis, fish and all manner of drying foods spread out on the ground. Choose your fish from a tank and have it served up for lunch at a raw fish restaurant or beach shack. Crack open a beer and watch the sunset unfold over the surrounding islands, then fall asleep to the sound of the waves lapping at the shore.
