In "Essentials of Spontaneous Prose" published in 1959 Jack Kerouac breaks down the method, principles and attitude behind writing his style of fluid, uninhibited prose which was highly influenced by jazz music. Kerouac found fame as the author of On The Road, published in 1957, that also gave birth to the Beat Generation and a new movement in American writing. Kerouac and the Beats became an enormously influential creative force whose impact on literature, arts and culture can still be felt today. In this video we go through Kerouac's "Essentials of Spontaneous Prose" and discover how it relates to Julia Cameron's idea of Morning Pages which we have been exploring on this channel.
