Precious Lord, Take My Hand - arr. Mark Hayes

"Precious Lord" was written by Thomas Dorsey in 1932 after the death of his wife and infant son. Its three stanzas highlight the grief surrounding significant loss, yet the resolve of one reaching out to God. Dorsey was influential in the development of 20th century gospel music and was the first African American elected to the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Gospel Music Association's Living Hall of Fame. I've always enjoyed Mark Hayes' treatment of this piece and hope you do too!
