Tim Beattie performs Tango en Skaï by Roland Dyens. Filmed by Drew Henderson in Mazzoleni Hall at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. Tim is currently studying Classical Guitar under the tutelage of Robert Hamilton, as a student at the Phil and Eli Taylor Academy for Young Artists at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. Tim has had masterclasses and private lessons with world-renowned teachers and performers such as Jeffrey Mcfadden, Rovshan Mamedkuliev, Patrick Kearney, Marcin Dylla, Alvin Tung, Elliot Frank, Richard Todd, Daniel Srugo, Matthew McAllister, Adam Ruzzo, Jeff Hanlon, Thibault Cauvin, Shawn Pickup, Michael Kolk, and Stephen Aron. Tim has loved the gift of music and guitar from a very young age. He got his first guitar upon request at the age of two. Though his primary focus is on the Classical guitar, Tim has continued to broaden his horizons, pursuing studies in various genres including jazz, blues, rock, fingerstyle acoustic guitar, receiving private instruction from the likes of Antoine Dufour, Joe Abbott, Nate Douglas, and Joe Huron. He has won over 30 First Place awards and scholarships in various Music Competitions at local, provincial, and international levels. Receiving top marks in all of Ontario on RCM examinations, Tim is a two-time Gold Medal award winner. Tim has been featured on live radio on the Drew Marshall show in Toronto, where he had the opportunity to play for Tommy Emmanuel. Tim placed first in the Junior Rose Bowl as part of the Barrie Kiwanis Music Festival, competing against the festival's top participants in violin, piano, and voice. He was recommended for the provincial competition where he performed against other guitarists studying at a grade 8 RCM level, in which he placed first. Tim placed first at the Guitare Montreal youth competition, and received first class honours with distinction on both his Advanced Rudiments and Grade 8 guitar exams through the Royal Conservatory, culminating in a Gold Medal as a result of receiving the highest mark in Ontario. Having opened for concerts by many world-renowned Classical guitarists, such as Edel Munoz, Matt Palmer, Marko Feri, Isaac Bustos, Jason Vieaux, and Rafael Aguirre, Tim has found his true passion to be performance. Now 16, Tim plans on continuing his studies with Robert Hamilton as a student at the Taylor Academy (Royal Conservatory of Music) in Toronto, actively participating in Guitar Society of Toronto concerts and the community orchestra, and later studying music in university. He loves sharing his passion for guitar and blessing others with the gift of music.
