This past weekend, Donald Trump suggested sending US citizens that are currently incarcerated to the torture prison in El Salvador, even though he’s not sure if that’s legal. During a press briefing later in the week, Karoline Leavitt was asked about Trump’s comments and she confirmed that Trump is NOT JOKING about doing that, but again, they aren’t sure if it is legal. The answer is obviously that it is NOT legal, and the fact that they don’t immediately know that is absolutely chilling. Ring of Fire’s Farron Cousins discusses this. This past weekend aboard Air Force one, Donald Trump was asked by reporters how he felt about the prospect of sending us prisoners, you know, United States citizens, serving time behind bars in the United States. Uh, how would you feel about sending them to that super prison for terrorists in El Salvador? And Trump said, I love it. I think it's a great idea, but he wasn't super sure about the legality of it. He's like, we gotta look into that. So a couple days passed, right? And then finally a reporter who I guess was paying attention to what happened to Port Air Force. One decided to ask Caroline Levitt during a press briefing. Like, Hey, wait a minute. Um, no, everybody's thinking about tariffs and all that. And like, yeah, it's horrible, it's bad. But, um, the president said he was gonna start deporting US citizens. I mean, can, can you give us a little more on that? Maybe? And Caroline Levitt confirmed that Donald Trump was, in fact, not joking about it. Here's what she said. So the president has discussed this idea quite a few times publicly. He's also discussed it privately. Now, right there, there's, there's a big problem, okay? And it's a problem. I don't think people quite fully grasp. Trump says everything publicly. We get that, you know, he will come up with the dumbest idea ever and he'll just say it publicly. Sometimes he'll repeat it multiple times, other times, if it's really that out there, he'll just stop. But he does everything publicly. When he's also doing it privately, it means this is a thing that's gonna happen. And her admitting that he is doing it privately tells us this is a thing that's gonna happen. But she continued. These would be heinous violent criminals who have broken our nation's laws repeatedly. These are violent repeat offenders in American streets. Now I'm gonna stop right there again because y'all said the same thing about the other people y'all sent down to that El Salvador in prison. And then a 60 minutes analysis found that at least 75% of them had zero criminal records. We know for a fact you've actually taken people who were not supposed to be deported at all. They were valid residents and you sent them down there too. So you have no credibility on the issue of rule only sending criminals because you've proven time and time again. That's not what you do. She continues, the president has said if it's legal, if there's a legal pathway to do that. He's not sure. We are not sure if there is. It's an idea that he has simply floated and has discussed, uh, very publicly in the effort of transparency. First of all, he's not doing it in the effort of transparency. He's doing it because he has no filter and he just says crazy crap all the time. That's not transparency. That's a mental disorder. Secondly, um, it's not legal. And the fact that you dumb asses don't know that is terrifying to me. It is 100% not legal. It violates due process. It violates cruel and unusual punishment. You can't deport US citizens. Like that's just batshit that you don't know whether or not that's legal. Like there's a, a, a litany of us laws that, that violates civil rights groups have been talking about it all week. Like, no, you're breaking this law, this law, this law, this law. I wish I remembered 'em all off the top of my head, but I know a couple, but holy hell, we don't, we we're not sure. Then pick up a phone, call a lawyer, spend two minutes talking to them and then you'll be like, okay, wow, I get it. Totally illegal. Got it. Not gonna happen.
