It’s been one year since Virginia enacted new laws regulating the sale of edible hemp products, and new data obtained by 8News shows many stores still aren’t complying with the new laws meant to ensure the products are safe for consumption. “This is a public safety issue, it’s not something you know that is for folks to make money. This is literally public safety that we need to address,” Delegate Terry Kilgore (R-Scott), who authored the law, told 8News.  Last year, the General Assembly passed a law restricting the amount and concentration of THC, the intoxicating ingredient in cannabis, allowed in products for sale in Virginia.
