Building on my introduction video on vintage Madeira and preparing for my opening a the 1840 Cossart & Gordon The Rebel Madeira, I decided to open a 1968 Blandy's Bual Madeira. John Blandy founded Blandy’s in 1811. The Madeira Wine Association, founded in 1913, was originally a group of Madeira wine producing companies, who decided to join forces in order to strengthen their purchasing and wine making abilities. Blandy’s, Leacock, Miles and Cossart Gordon formed the Madeira Wine Company In 1989, the Madeira Wine Company partnered with Symington Port to give them more scope. Bual is the 2nd sweetest of the types of vintage Madeira. Bual is a grape varietal that ripens to higher sugar levels than Sercial or Verdelho, and is well suited to the production of dark, rich, raisiny wines with remarkable aging potential. All Madeira ages well, but Bual can outlive almost any other wine. For more information about Blandy's, see their website at https://blandys.com/en/home/
