LeftCoast Stories - RUSH

To mark LeftCoast’s 10th birthday, we commissioned poet Nathan Parker work with participants, volunteers, photographers, and artists to create a catalogue of poetry that captures the past decade. This time, we hear from Katherine Platt, one of the 100+ participants who performed in RUSH, who has since gone on to become a LeftCoast volunteer, steering group member, and valued part of the team. From the initial call out, to a light and projection mapping masterpiece performed by over 100 local residents, Katherine takes us through the story of RUSH, an outdoor dance spectacular, created by Southpaw Dance Company. RUSH told the stories that matter to Blackpool and Wyre residents in a huge release of energy and creativity. Developing into a celebration, highlighting the power within community. The poem was written by Nathan Parker in collaboration with Katherine and fellow RUSH participants.
