EXCLUSIVE METAL-ENTERTAINMENT FOR DAYS AT HOME BACKWATER AT MY OLD TV-SHOW: FULL SHOW! Due to the recent situation I feel like offering some exclusive video-content during the next days. I went through several harddrives and found some cool stuff. Today I want to present the full show (!) of BACKWATER from my old TV-Show „Heavy Metal Battle“, 1986. I was working on the audio a little for this video but still it sounds very rough (and of course mono). The feature ends with an interview with the band and I am not very proud of the 15 year old me *ha ha*. While I really enjoyed both BACKWATER albums (and I still do today), they mostly got bad reviews in the German press back then. It´s funny that this style is now kinda „hip“, as these guys have mixed Speed/Thrash with a good dose of Rock´n´Roll. No need to say that both albums are cult today. I remember when they arrived in Ludwigshafen in front of the studio building with a „Aktion Sorgenkind Van“. The door opened and the first that left the van was an empty can of beer… Then we all had to carry that monster drumset into the studio which was a pretty long way to walk. The technicians from the studio freaked out for several reasons that day, but that drumset was one of the reasons. The other was that „some of your guests are obviously drunk“ *lol*. I just couldn´t believe that I had BACKWATER in my show! I was a teenager and it felt like I get a private concert. The show was live but without live audience. It was just Rudi and me, the bands and the guys from SAT 1 channel who had to work a few times a week for OK Vorderpfalz. Thanks to Reiner Krukenberg this footage is now available again! And here´s a weird fact about that show: Technically my parents own the rights to that footage as they signed the contract that was needed before the show started.
