Syzygy by Viet Cuong | The 2021 Celebrate CA String Orchestra

Tony Lymon - Video Editor Rosa Westfall - Audio Engineer Nick Mason - Sound Editor Kyle Ramsay - Sound Editor The Celebrate CA String Orchestra performs Syzygy (2019, rev. 2020), by critically-acclaimed composer Viet Cuong (b. 1990). Originally commissioned by Sam Fritz and Ashley Carney (of the Center Grove Middle School Bands and Zionsville Middle School Orchestras, respectively), the piece was subsequently revised in 2020 for use in this virtual project. Compositionally, the piece features a canonical structure and now includes solo opportunities, which have been implemented in a flexible nature, offering ensembles the opportunity to highlight stand out musicians. Celebrate CA is a collaborative initiative, the product of a partnership between the California Orchestra Directors Association and the Kaleidoscope Chamber Orchestra.
