Among the best places to eat in Mussoorie, one must eat at Canadian Bakery for a simple and tasty experience of Pahari Thali, which we did in our Mussoorie food tour. Located in Sainji village, about 7 km from the famous Kempty Falls of Mussoorie, where bunches of golden corncobs hang outside each house. The purpose of hanging corn out to dry is to use them as seeds the following year. The Canadian bakery, thus, is also known as Corn Village Bakery and Café. Started by Kunwar Singh and his wife, Lori, who is Canadian by birth, the bakery menu includes a Garhwali thali with local vegetables, dal, rice, and corn roti with desi ghee. Don’t miss their seasonal fruit pies, chocolate pies, lemon pies, tarts, cakes, brownies, and cookies. The incredible couple also runs the Garhwal English Medium School to improve life for underprivileged children around the hills. Getting here: Dehra Dun is the nearest railway station and airport to Mussoorie and Sainji village. From here, one needs to hire a car and drive to the Kempty Falls. The Corn village of Sainji is around 5 km after Mussoorie. One needs to follow the road that goes towards Yamnotri. Turn right just after the Garhwal English medium school to get to the corn village. Travel Tips: A lot of resorts and hotels in Mussoorie arrange for a day outing to the corn village of Sainji. If you are staying at Rokeby Manor in Landour, you can book the same through them. When visiting the village, remember to be respectful to the villagers. It is always nice to ask for their permission to visit their homes or take their pictures. Most of the villagers speak Hindi There are no shops nearby and hence, ensure you carry your own food and water for the trip. Unless you have something organized by the hotel through whom you would be visiting. #mussoorie #streetfood #theexplorerraj _______________________________________________________ Our Facebook: / theexplorerraj Our Instagram: / theexplorerraj_ Our Website: https://www.theexplorerraj.com Our Email For Business: [email protected] / @theexplorerraj
