Hiking the Wells Hill Park trails, Fayetteville, TN

The Wells Hill Park/Joy Gleghorn Nature Preserve trail is an easy 3.5 mile out and back trail near Fayetteville, TN. In this video, Jonathan and I explore this trail which consists of hiking up a small dry creek bed to a lovely waterfall and small water cascade. If you are short on time, hiking directly to the falls is extremely easy and rewarding. Jonathan and I hiked this trail in the late morning on an unusually cool day for mid-summer in the south. We explored each of the three side-branches to this trail. The west branch has a little waterfall that even at this relatively dry time of year was a lovely sight to see. The middle (south) branch of the trail leads up and out of the valley, but with little to see; at least at this time of year. The final eastern branch leads to a small cascade of water falling down into the canyon. When hiking this valley, you often can choose if you want to follow a trail or walk directly up the creek bed. We did some of both. The creek bed is gravely with some large cobbles along stretches so watch your footing. The trails are obviously All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) trails that criss-cross the creek at various places. Both options are easily passible and all lead to the same places. As long as you stay in the valley, there is very little altitude change over this hike. We had a great time and the weather was amazing for the first weekend in August and we did our part by hauling out some trash that others had inconsiderately left behind. I would recommend this trail to families with children or anyone else who would like a short, mostly flat, if a bit rocky/gravely, trail to a nice waterfall.
