Ancient Bones & Awesome Hiking in Dinosaur National Monument

In Part 8 of our 2025 Western Adventure series, we drove south from Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area to Jensen Utah, and entered the Fossil Quarry entrance of Dinosaur National Monument. The mid-August temperatures were cooler than normal for a summer visit, so we made the most of it by hiking the Fossil Discovery Trail up to the Quarry Exhibit Hall, taking in the scenery and spotting fossils along the way. After touring the spectacular in-situ fossil display in the exhibit hall, we returned to the Visitor Center, then drove to the Split Mountain Campground parking area, for a loop hike on the Desert Voices trail.
