Hello viewers! In today's video, I'm going to show you how to make HOT ice or supersaturated solutions. For this demonstration, I used sodium acetate powder to create what’s known as hot ice. You can actually make sodium acetate at home using baking soda and vinegar, and I plan to create a separate video on that topic. Will upload it as soon as possible. In this experiment, I used sodium acetate crystals that I purchased from an online store. To start, I took a portion of the sodium acetate crystals and melted them in a bowl, then poured the solution into another container and cooled it down below room temperature. Then, I grabbed a small dish and placed a small pile of sodium acetate powder in the centre of it; this will act as a seed for the crystal formation. I slowly poured the supersaturated solution into the pan, and crystals formed almost immediately. The crystallisation process is exothermic, meaning that the resulting ice is hot to the touch. The solidification occurs so rapidly that you can create sculptures as you pour the hot ice. Enjoy the experiment!
