Chairman Q Tuccu says Naga Republic Day symbolizes assertion of indigenous political rights

Members of the National Socialist Council of Nagalim-Isak-Muivah (NSCN-IM) on March 21, celebrated its 46th Republic Day at Council Headquarters, Hebron in Nagaland. The event was graced by Vilanuo Angela Yhome, president of the Naga Mother’s Association (NMA) as the guest of honour. All ranks and files of the NSCN-IM, including its chairman Q Tuccu and leaders from Naga civil organisations, leaders of neighbouring villages and delegates from Naga communities across borders were part of the celebration. In his Republic Day address, Chairman Q Tuccu said Naga Republic Day marks the establishment of their government, asserting their political rights under international principles that respect indigenous freedom. The chairman's speech which was read out by Tongmeth Wangnao, NSCN-IM vice-chairman emphasized that the Naga people have never surrendered their dignity and pride while asserting their sovereign rights. He urged everyone to uphold the national principles that have brought them this far.
