There are more chances of saturating rain in parts of southern Australia over the next several days, especially from this weekend onwards as low pressure in the heart of Aussie sinks southwards. But offshore winds south of Australia may play a role in where that convergence line will be - so there is still decent uncertainty about precisely how widespread these thunderstorms, downpous and localised heavy rain will become. In a nutshell SA is most exposed to the incoming wet weather chances, along with parts of NSW, Vic and the NT. When it comes to set-ups like this it can be helpful to compare various rain forecast maps from different models - some find it confusing as they just want "the answer" but in messy set-ups of instability seeing a few different view points can help you work out if you're in a "dry zone", a "heavy rain zone" or on the edges of it all - and that in itself can be useful at building up (or lowering) your own confidence of rain chances at your place. No one computer model is "the best" - they all have strengths and weakenesses... so when comparing different maps look for similarities (ie heavy rain in the same place on all 3 maps means confidence is high of that happening...if heavy rain is in one model for your location, but not the next model, then there may be less confidence of rain falling despite the chance of it). The tropics isn't overly wet at the moment in a widespread scale - certainly some very heavy localised downpours about though, and as we kick off March we may see more lows and rainmakers just to the north of WA, NT and Qld worth monitoring for any tropical cylone or heavy rain potential.
