Various of Guzman being led from military vehicle to Mexican marines' helicopter after his capture STORYLINE One of Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman's lawyers began a hunger strike Friday outside the maximum-security prison where the drug lord is being held to denounce mistreatment towards his client. Wearing an "Extradition Never!!!" sweat shirt emblazoned with a photo of his client, Jose Luis Gonzalez Meza called a news conference outside the Altiplano prison. Gonzalez Meza called on Mexicans to join the hunger strike and erected a tent across from the prison, which "El Chapo" escaped from through a mile-long tunnel in July 2015. Present at the event were two of Guzman's sisters, who expressed their concern about the drug boss's health situation. Bernarda Guzman Loera said she was simply asking for the authorities to give her brother the same treatment as any other prisoner. Guzman Loera has complained about his situation inside prison, saying officers will not let him sleep. On Wednesday he asked his lawyer to be extradited to the United States as soon as possible. Gonzalez Meza said he planned one more meal Friday afternoon before turning to water and juices.
