Children as young as three years old learned about the national security law (NSL), which Beijing imposed on Hong Kong in June 2020. Under the legislation, schools and universities in Hong Kong have been urged to promote national security education. Beijing declared April 15 as National Security Education Day in 2015, and the Hong Kong government began promoting it with more fanfare after the NSL was enacted. (Photo: K.Y.
