Inspired by Scott Grove Of Groovymusiclessons.com THANKS for the videos Scott..... Hand Fitting Fender LSR Roller Nut I have went Roller mad, I swapped out the bridge for a roller bridge and recently swapped out the String trees for rollers.... So the Last Step is the Roller Nut. I put it off for a while but decided to go ahead with the mod. Being a mechanical Engineer and all, what could go wrong. Removing the old Plastic nut was a breeze in this MIM Strat. Zero glue so pushed out very easily. I then took measurements, and masked off the fret board. Always marking negatively leaving plenty of meat for finishing. I used a one sided file so the side of file facing down has no teeth. But to be on the safe side I added (Yellow) tape to make sure I never went any deeper at this point. I then took my time filing up to the line stopping now and then taking a measurement with the digital vernier calipers (A must for this project) Finally I was just a few thousands of an inch away from the correct size. I took measurements all along the Slot (tower) . My advice here is to leave about 0.010" + at this point and hand fit the nut. Next I drilled the holes for the nut making sure to mark the depth, and proceeded to soap up the screws and screw the Roller nut home. Final step as putting the stings back on and shimming up the nut to set the perfect gap between 1st fret and strings. All measurements are included in the directions with the kit. Do this at your own risk, if in ANY doubt get someone who knows what they are doing... My final results were amazing, I can hear a more bell like tone from the guitar, stays in tune better when utilizing the vibrato arm ( I am learning Scott) And being able to shim the nut means the action is better than ever. All music in this video was done using a Digitech Band Creator Trio+ Big shout out also to Crimson Custom Guitars #fender #Guitarrepair #rollernut
