I figured that since I had the bamboo poles, it would only take me a minute to string up the 40m wire again. Mainly I wanted to see what happened to the resonant frequency with the wire so close to the ground. Well, it took 5 minutes, start to finish to install it! I figured “why not go inside and see what kind of match I’m getting now”. Even though I had plans, I went in. And was VERY happily surprised! I got it tuned (by folding back 1.5' of wire and choosing the right tap), turned the rig on, and the first ham I heard was OL725PLZ in Plzen, Czech Republic. Surely he wouldn’t hear me…
