Re-stretching my painting onto a new frame!

Also thanks to my brother Percy for writing & creating the music! Here’s how I restretched my warped painting onto a brand new stretcher frame: 1️⃣ Confirm the dimensions of the new frame and measure diagonally so you know the stretcher is square. 2️⃣ Line up the painting so it’s just visible around all sides, checking important details like the signature is on the front. 3️⃣ pulling the canvas tight, use a staple gun to put one staple in the middle of one side, pulling the canvas tight. Then repeat on the opposite side, then the top & bottom. If your stretcher isn’t widened using keys like this one you’ll have to create tension as you go using canvas pliers, rather than by hand. 4️⃣ Do a last little alignment check by flipping the canvas. 5️⃣ Then staple outwards away from the centre staple 3 staples at a time on either side. Repeat on the opposite side, the top, and bottom, leaving an 2 1/2” gap between staples and pulling tight as you go. 6️⃣As you near the corner on the first side staple down to the end, place a final staple in the corner, then fold the corner. Staple down the fold. Do all 4 corners. 7️⃣Fill in the final areas on the top and bottom then flip the painting to check it. 8️⃣ if using keys place them in each slot & tap them in a bit until you see the joint start to open about 1/16” - that’s what creates perfect tension.
