Chez la Fontaine is an ancient typical Norman farmhouse, situated between Caen and Cherbourg. Chez la Fontaine has both gîtes (holiday) as a camping grove. Chez la Fontaine is located on the outskirts of the village Géfosse-Fontenay, a rural town with only 115 inhabitants. The village has many beautiful manors, and there is even a castle to find. Opposite Chez la Fontaine is' Le Lavoir, the old village laundry 'La Fontaine' (the source). Straight line is the old farmhouse just 500 meters from shore. A walk to the beach takes about twenty minutes. On the coast at low tide the beaches and the oyster and mussel farms are clearly visible. Chez la Fontaine is located between the famous landing beaches Omaha and Utah Beach Beach. A few kilometers inland lies the Bessin and Cotentin marshes, where beautiful flora and fauna to be found. At about five kilometers from Chez la Fontaine is the lovely fishing village of Grand-Maisy. Only the daily fish market and many cozy shops all make a visit worthwhile. From this village tours are also organized, including Pointe du Hoc and les Iles Saint-Marcouf. Isigny sur Mer, also five kilometers away, is famous for its caramels and cheeses.
